They will not pass

Dear friends of mine and my country, please please take a few minutes to read about this salvadorean fight/struggle.

Mining companies from Canada and the US have their eyes on El Salvador’s natural resources. Anonymous radio commercials promotion for la mineria verde (green mining) have established confution in media schedule . The Catholic Church, social organizations, environmentalists and princpaly residents of the zones planned to be mined are strongly resisting even after several homicides and threats.
Not only enviromental issues as water, air, and soil pollution with cyanide and heavy metals are motivating activists oposition pronouncements. Corruption and dubious investements by the canadian firm have not yet been clarified by salvadorian institutions.
While mining would only provide some very minor, small, short-term economic benefits, mining would affect the water supply (70%) for almost entire country, including the San Salvador area and its estimated 2.1 million residents (near 40% of total population).
